The festival is named after Nikolai Triandafilov-Slivenets, issued in 1847 the first church-song collections of Church Slavonic. Organizira ce in the year as part of festivities celebrating the feast of Sliven - October 26, Demetrius.

The festival aims to promote best practice in the Orthodox Church Music and stimulates the creation of a new church choir chants of Bulgarian Composers.
